Fewer poses, longer stays

A Yin class may include only five or six shapes in seventy-five minutes. Each is held for three to five minutes, supported by props, with muscles soft. The work is not effort. It is patience.

Expect a quiet, dim room. Expect your mind to get loud before it gets quiet. That is normal, and it is part of the practice.

How to prepare

Wear warm layers, as the body cools during long holds. Arrive a few minutes early to build your nest of bolsters and blankets. And leave expectations at the door: flexibility is not required, only willingness to stay.
